Hey! It's Courtney Love!

Never mind. Go here for some more public drunkeness.

As I've stated before, I said no team was going to go undefeated this year. Oklahoma and Miami may prove me wrong, but thanks to West Virginia, Tech's hopes are up in smoke. Now we've go some HUGE games on Saturday starting with:

OSU at WSU: This used to be the one win either team could count on in the past; now it's for the lead in the Pac-10 and to keep WSU's national championship hopes alive. The Beavers are gonna come in looking for an upset, plus some of the Cougar starters are hurting. It's gonna be a close game and I'm hoping for a Cougar victory but with Derek Anderson & Steven Jackson in there I don't know how the D will do against them.

USC at UW: I don't like the Trojans chances here. No sir. I remember growing up how they had such a hard time playing at Husky Stadium and it's not going to be any easier. USC has got to take the crowd out quickly and blitz the shit out of Pickett. Otherwise, it's going to be a very long day for Carroll and his boys.

And how did I miss this?

Smackdown!: Good to see Paul E. is back in the role he should have had in the first place, Rikishi & Scotty 2 Hotty are back in the hizzouse and Bob Holly is back and he is PISSED and HE WANTS LESNAR JUNE 15th THE TAJ MAHAL IT'S THE WAR BY THE SHORE. OK, wrong sport but you get the idea. Still, that should be a good feud "if" (and that's the operative word) it comes about.

I went to Suncoast today and picked up some DVDs from UPW. Future Shock Vol. 2, Rage At The River and Shock Wave, all 9.99 each. They're good so far, but the video quality is quite bad.

So until next time, I leave you with one more pic & football rumors.

Damn, Torrie. Hold your liquor girl.

-We hear it's not out of the realm of possibility that if the Bills continue to lose big, as they did in Week 6 before bouncing back vs. Washington, the team could part ways with head coach Gregg Williams in midseason. The Bills whacked head coach Kay Stephenson during the 1985 season and then fired his replacement, Hank Bullough, during the 1986 season -- opening the door for Marv Levy.

-If the Bengals can use the fact that they play three of their next four games at home to their advantage and get into the thick of the AFC North race, starting QB Jon Kitna will likely keep his job. But if the team fades from contention, we hear the Carson Palmer era could begin.

-Eagles special-teams coach John Harbaugh "guaranteed" that the team would try another surprise onside kick this season, despite the fact the team was burned by it on the opening play two weeks ago against Dallas.

-QB Drew Henson visited Houston, but we hear he never stepped inside Reliant Stadium. He was only in town to visit his friend and former college teammate, TE Bennie Joppru.

-Patriots S Rodney Harrison told reporters last week that he has not played in the same secondary with a better starting CB duo than the one he is playing with now -- Ty Law and Tyrone Poole. Both players are playing well, and when you consider that Law has been playing on a sprained ankle, it makes his performance that much more impressive.

-Broncos MLB Al Wilson is the most underrated player in football, according to a league scout we spoke with last week. The scout is interested to see how Wilson will respond to not having the speedy Ian Gold lining up next to him. Gold was lost for the year with a torn ACL in Week 6, and his absence is considered a huge loss for a defense designed to allow its weak-side linebacker to make most of its plays.

-We have it on good authority that the Cowboys were dead serious when they offered the 49ers a third-round draft pick for Niners RB Kevan Barlow the Friday before the NFL trade deadline. Sources in the Cowboys' organization told us Dallas head coach Bill Parcells likes Barlow's talents and thinks he could handle the second-year back's challenging personality.

-Panthers WR Kevin Dyson, who has been out so far this season after suffering a torn Achilles tendon over the summer, has started running again and could open up the passing game should he return in time for the stretch run in late November.

-There are some in the Saints' organization who believe the team simply suffered its usual late-season slump early and that the team still has a shot to get back in the playoff race.

-Although the Buccaneers feel vindicated that the NFL has ruled that the officials in Tampa Bay's Week 5 loss to the Colts erred by not calling a penalty on an onside kick late in the game, head coach Jon Gruden would have preferred to keep the incident in the past at this point since the admission doesn't give the Bucs a win.

-Buccaneers CB Brian Kelly has decided that he will wait until after the season to undergo surgery to repair his torn left pectoral muscle because he likely won't do any more damage to the muscle if he plays and he knows the team becomes thin in the secondary when he is out of the lineup.

-Vikings RB Michael Bennett not only survived his first full-speed agility test last Thursday, he was able to repeat the activity Friday without pain or other setbacks. The upbeat Bennett has provided yet another reason for the Vikings to believe. Team sources say Bennett is as close to a sure thing as it gets that he will play vs. Green Bay on Nov. 2. Bennett grew up in Milwaukee and wants to be on the field for Round Two vs. the Packers. But expect head coach Mike Tice, intent on pacing his lead runner, to have final say in the matter. A Vikings source did suggest that Minnesota could activate Bennett from the PUP list this week.

-The Bears started WR David Terrell at Seattle on Sunday, but it was more a last-ditch effort to spark the underachieving former first-round pick than a promotion. Terrell, getting time because of an injury to Marty Booker, will be moved down the depth chart behind Ahmad Merritt this week if the coaching staff isn't pleased with what they find on the Seattle game film. The staff concluded that Terrell should have come down inbounds with two of the three passes he caught out of bounds in New Orleans.

-He won't start immediately, but the Packers expect 6-7, 337-pound DT Terdell Sands to earn his way onto the field in the coming weeks. Sands was a practice-squad body for Kansas City before coming to Green Bay. Activated after DE Joe Johnson was injured, Sands is extremely powerful and plays the run well but has been unable to stay healthy.

-Wary of the injury and stamina problems encountered by RB Ahman Green last season, the Packers allowed Green to take practice off late last week because "he was tired."

-A projected starter at the ORT spot entering training camp, Marc Colombo is unlikely to play with the Bears this season. Colombo has not yet been placed on injured reserve, but league sources told PFW that Colombo is not close to playing and wouldn't be activated from the physically-unable-to-perform list with a knee injury. "Best case," the source said, "is probably mid-November. At that point, it ain't worth the risk."

-The Cardinals made a concerted effort during their bye week to find WR reinforcements, but we hear none of the free-agent veterans who tried out last week -- Oronde Gadsden, Isaac Byrd and Kahlil Hill -- came close to making enough of an impression to be signed.

-Look for Cardinals third-round rookie OLB Gerald Hayes to get more playing time at the expense of second-year pro Levar Fisher. Fisher was beaten badly on an inside move by Ravens S Ed Reed on Reed's block of a Scott Player punt and subsequent 22-yard return for a touchdown in Baltimore's 26-18 victory in Week 6, and he later admitted that he let the play affect him the rest of the game.

-We hear the Rams were really happy they were able to so quickly activate second-year CB James Whitley from the physically-unable-to-perform list last week. Whitley, who has been sidelined since breaking his foot in April, has remained in the team's good graces with his nonstop conditioning efforts. The Rams also love his versatility; he can play cornerback, either safety spot or nickel back.

-Seahawks veteran OLB Chad Brown told our sources that he had a breakout performance in the Week 6 victory over San Francisco after deciding to no longer baby his surgically repaired right foot and practice as aggressively as he used to.

-Seahawks defensive coordinator Ray Rhodes on the example veteran reserve CB Willie Williams has been setting for Seattle's young defensive backs: "Willie is a warrior. He's an old-school player, and he's one of those guys who knows what it takes to play this game. The (Marcus) Trufants and the (Ken) Hamlins, they see a guy like Willie Williams still fighting and scratching and clawing every time he gets an opportunity to go out on the field. I think that's a positive for our football team."

-The Dolphins are strongly considering re-signing WR Oronde Gadsden to bolster their WR corps, but thus far, they've shied away from that move because of poor workouts by Gadsden with other teams.

-The Patriots say LB Ted Johnson, who is out of his cast and is walking on his own, could return to action in mid-November. Meanwhile, the Patriots have been mum on when they might be able to activate NT Ted Washington, who also is walking under his own power.

-Sources close to the Giants say that part of head coach Jim Fassel's plan to reduce the team's turnovers is to streamline the offense, paring down to only a handful of running plays -- a similar tactic he used to lead the team to the Super Bowl in 2000.

-The Eagles are disappointed with the slow rehabilitation of first-round DE Jerome McDougle, who is slipping further behind every day he is out.

-Although the injury to Redskins RB Trung Canidate allows the team to get a few more glimpses of intriguing rookie RB Sultan McCullough, one insider said he thinks few Redskins have confidence in the rookie's long-term potential.

-Redskins RB Ladell Betts told PFW he and his teammates are really looking forward to the bye week, saying that there are more guys hurt than the injury report would indicate.

-While the Chiefs are winning, the slumping run defense is something to keep an eye on. The defensive line is getting better pressure on the quarterback, but the Chiefs would like to see their linebackers, particularly MLB Mike Maslowski, a little better-protected from blockers.

-Chiefs offensive coordinator Al Saunders believes OT John Tait has "closed that gap so quickly in relation to his adjustment to the right side." After suffering through some ups and downs after moving to the right side to make way for Willie Roaf last season, Tait is said to be making a nice transition this year.

-Though originally thought to be a season-ending quadriceps tear for Raiders OG Frank Middleton, he vows to be back after the team's bye week to face Detroit on Nov. 2.

-John Parrella's status for the Raiders could be up in the air for some time. The veteran defensive tackle revealed he tore his groin muscle off the bone while chasing the Bears' Kordell Stewart earlier this month. Parrella didn't want to set a timetable for a return, but teammate Trace Armstrong, who suffered a similar injury last season, said it's "going to be awhile."

-An AFC general manager told PFW that Titans C Justin Hartwig is a major weakness on Tennessee's offensive line. "(Hartwig) can single-handedly hurt their running game. If you've got a good physical nose over him, you can take away running inside the tackles. RB Eddie George is not a lateral runner anyhow, and I don't think RB Chris Brown is."

-We hear that Jaguars DE Hugh Douglas has lost his quick first step.

-Both Jaguars DTs Marcus Stroud and John Henderson have made strides this year. An insider revealed that the 6-foot-7 Henderson has done a much better job of playing low.

-Titans coaches are frustrated with rookie RB Chris Brown's inability to stay healthy.
