CHECK IT

I'll have more tomorrow.

But for now, a poem.

SAVE HIP-HOP???

Whenever I go on the internet there’s always talk of summit and conferences and special meetings ‘n all that - do you think hiphop it taking itself a little too seriously?

Yeh. Hiphop doesn’t trust itself enough right now. It’s a really young medium that’s only been around for like thirty years and it’s really unsure of itself and cats are just trying to expand it too fast. It’s not evolving naturally. Too many cats are just jumping in head first before just soaking their feet in the water. It’s a weird situation. Hiphop definitely takes itself really seriously right now. Hiphop is definitely taking itself too seriously - people just need to relax and do what comes to them natural to them and not force any evolution on hiphop - it’s so young. We’re still the babies of hiphop music y’know. Compared to other forms of music that have been around for like forever and which have just been allowed to evolve nicely, hiphop is just - people are trying too hard to force it and not letting it grow as it’s own thing. Hopefully people will relax - I mean, I can just do my part that’s the only ting I can do - and I work with people I know do their part in just making honest music…

So, you wanna save hip-hop, huh?
Fuck a lunch pail, you're gonna need to tote a caravan
Hip-Hop doesn't need you to save it's soul
Depending on media darlings to "reaffirm your faith"
Hip-Hop is not dependent on you
Hip-Hop is not sitting on the street asking for a handout
Hip-Hop is not there for you to make it a badge
Hip-Hop is not there for you to make it into a coat of arms to prove your ancestry
Hip-Hop does not give a FUCK if you worship it
Hip-Hop would not take one of those long 8-Ball pisses on you if you were on fire
Hip-Hop is not here to comfort you or give you a shoulder to cry on
Hip-Hop is not here to make things alright
Hip-Hop is not 'your boy' or 'your ace boon coon'
Hip-Hop will diss you to your face
Hip-Hop will slash a buck 50 on your face dunn with a razar
Hip-Hop will break a 40 bottle over your head
Hip-Hop will call you a bitch and a sellout
Hip-Hop will snicker when you subscribe to the R'B theory: Rap 'N Bullshit
Hip-Hop will laugh when you parade around with a model on your arm
Hip-Hop will dismiss your attempts to be an "artist"
Hip-Hop will slash your tires, call your house and hang up on you, beat your bitch up, steal your kid's bike
Hip-Hop will always eat it's young
Hip-Hop will always be here
Forever and ever
Forever
Get what I'm sayin'
FOREVER.

Hip-Hop is all a dream
Still reads Word-Up magazine...

Thanks for reading.
