SONICS~~~

Whoda thunk it? Not me!

But it's good to "see" your smiling faces here in BloggerLand. I've got some downtime before I help the paper rev up with winter sports coverage, so I figured I'd stop by and get on my pulpit and rant and rave about what's gone on since my last post.

Sonics — Watching them against the Grizzlies was impressive. They play defense, crash the boards and can Radmanovic hit dem threes or what? I enjoy watching this team play right now. It's a lot of fun, plus Calabro is always a pleasure to listen to. I hope he gets his due one day.

Seahawks — Oh, where to begin? I could go on and on and ON about the little things, but it all adds up to one thing:

When we were tied in the 4th and the Dolphins were driving, Randy Cross talked about if we lose this game, "it'll be the biggest loss for them all year."

And do you know why that's bullshit?

Because the loss to the Rams was that much bigger.

If you look at Simmons 13 Levels Of Losing (if you have Insider that is), that was a perfect Broken Axle game. We were comfortably ahead, but a few things went wrong here or there, then they get back in it, we start panicking, they start pressing and bada-bing, bada-boom, they've lost the game in OT, they've lost their swagger and the rest of the season is another up and down emotional roller coaster.

Can we sue teams for emotional distress? Can we? I'd certainly like to know, so I can sue the '94 Sonics, the '01 M's, the Cougars of '02 and this year's Seahawks for making my life a neverending hell.

If they did lose that game, everyone and their mother would have pointed to it as the last straw. That's fine. But if you really want a game where everything went downhill, watch that game. And then try not to drink yourself into a goddamn coma, like I tried to do but failed.

The job — I finally wrote my first feature... and it wasn't that great.

I mean, it's OK, but I'm not too happy with it. I think I could have done a better job with it. Here's the article for the 6 of you that are interested.

I think I'll get to do a few more gamers until the new year rolls around, then who knows. The editor likes me, but there's not a lot of room on the staff for me unless he bumps someone off. Plus, they're moving to a new office in January or February, which will complicate things.

But I do have some recent clips and some experience, and that can only help.

Well, time to close this down and go home for Turkey Day. Enjoy your bird and the games, and I'll holla.
